Fun Spanish Words for Your Invitation

Even if you are not a Spanish speaker, you can still have an invitation filled with Latin flavor and fun. Here are a few Spanish words that anyone can relate to and understand! Try mixing them into the greeting portion of your invitation. Your guests will be delighted with the fiesta theme that transcends the invitation.

A few tips from the pro: Don't go trying to rhyme or get too long winded with your greeting. Poems can be fun, but often the extra wording makes the invitation look cramped. Stick to a simple phrase over a couple of lines inviting your guests that uses just a sprinkling of the words below. For example, "Calling all Senores & Senoritas, it's time for a Fiesta celebrating Marianne's Birthday," or, "Margaritas are mixing, the salsa is hot... Kate & Taylor are tying the knot!"

  • Fiesta
  • Salsa
  • Senorita, Senor & Senora
  • Sombrero
  • Guitarra
  • Chili
  • Margarita
  • Mariachi

Salsa Recipes

Traditional

    Ingredients:
  • 1 onion
  • 4-5 ripe tomatoes
  • 2 serrano peppers
  • 2 cloves garlic
  • 1 Tbsp lime juice
  • 2 Tbsp fresh cilantro
  • 1/2 tsp salt
  • 1/2 tsp pepper
    Directions:
  1. Boil tomatoes and peppers in a saucepan for approximately 15 minutes.
  2. Drain and combine with all other ingredients in a food processor. Process for 30 seconds, or until desired texture is reached.
  3. Serve immediately, or refrigerate to preserve.

There are endless types of delicious salsa recipes waiting to be explored! Offer your guests an exciting variety to keep them on their toes. You can dress up this traditional salsa recipe with a few easy steps. Begin with this basic salsa recipe, and make some of these minor adjustments for a unique twist:

Chunky

Instead of following the directions above, use the same ingredients following these directions for a fresh and chunky alternative.

    Directions:
  1. Dice the tomatoes and onion into 1/4" cubes and mix in a large bowl.
  2. Finely dice the peppers and finely mince the garlic, mix into bowl with onion and tomatoes.
  3. Chop the fresh cilantro and add to mixture.
  4. Squeeze lime juice over the mixture, salt and pepper to taste. Let sit for several hours in refrigerator before serving.

Salsa con Aguacate

Add an extra element to the Chunky-style recipe above. Following the Chunky style recipe directions, carefully mix in one diced avocado just before adding the lime juice, salt, and pepper. Be sure to keep well refrigerated, as the avocados will brown rapidly when left out.

Spicy

Add the following ingredients for extra spice. Works best with traditional preparation method.

  • 1-2 jalapeno peppers
  • 1 small can diced green chilies
  • 1/2 Tbsp chili pepper flakes

Shake up the fiesta fun with a bright and trendy invitation that will get your guests ready to party!
