Looking ahead can be hard.  There’s so much going on today that there rarely seems to be time to plan for the future, even if it’s just a few weeks in advance.  One of the great things about working in a business that aids in the planning of special events is the opportunity to take the time to appreciate the moments in life that slow us down.  Holidays, birthdays, weddings… these events are really about family, friends, and loved ones.  Everyone knows it, and deep down I believe that each individual has a true appreciation for it.

One of my favorite holidays during the year is Valentine’s Day.  Not because of the gifts, the chocolate, or the expectation.  When celebrating privately with my spouse we take time to enjoy one another, the love that we have, and the life that we work hard to build.  However, for me, Valentine’s Day does not only extend to my romantic partner in life.  I use it as a day to celebrate the love I have for everyone important to me, friends and family alike.  And I’m definitely not the only one with this idea of a day for appreciating all relationships!

Communion season is on its way, and as always you’ll want to get a jump on ordering product.  In some diocese, First Communion has become so large that they have had to split it into two separate seasons: one in fall and one in spring.  However, even with this change to try to ease some of the burden, spring-time Communion is still far more popular.  As a result, these invitations sell out very quickly, and though your child may not have their First Communion until April or May, you might be surprised how limited your choices could be by waiting a few extra weeks.  As with any event, planning is the most important key to success.

Congratulations!  You’ve decided to tie the knot!  Now take a deep breath, because after the initial excitement of the engagement has passed, the overwhelming realization of the amount of work you have to take on is going to hit. Getting married is stressful, no matter when you set your date.  My advice is to start with the big things: find your wedding location(s) and caterer.  After that, worry about the photographer/videographer, florist, and DJ/band. The most time-consuming part is going to be figuring out how you want to personalize your wedding ceremony and reception, so that it captures a bit of the blending of you and your fiancé(e)’s personalities.  Start ahead on your wedding attire, and don't let yourself get worked up!  When it comes to everything else, think first about your colors, theme, and personal style. A lot of people really love to reflect the season in their big day.  There are a ton of little things you can do to add a bit of seasonal or holiday flair to your wedding, without making it seem cheesy or themed. 

A new, hot trend is the black & white wedding with red accents.  Aside from bringing in the red with flowers, consider adding small touches of winter decorations like peppermints.  The bold red, white and black will keep your event classic and elegant.
