Golden Communions

I had the pleasureof seeing a friend's daughter receive her first communion last spring, and I must say it was a delightful event. Not being a member of the church, I was a bit at a loss during the religious ceremony but got to participate in the celebration. All of the decorations were done in white and silver with touches of pink. The little girl looked absolutely precious in her white dress and tiny white gloves. These two invitations would suit her perfectly:

Communion Girl W/ Vellum - This Communion Card is sure to make your childs first holy communion memorable. The card is made of a gray and white design with a child standing in prayer for her special first communion. Wearing delicate gloves on her hand and holding a rosary against a beautiful white communion dress that flows off the page. Your personalization is printed on a delicate vellum overlay that is carefully assembled and printed in a black print that is the perfect accent for this one of a kind first holy communion invitation. This product sells out Fast so please order early.    Communion Glove Invitation - New Communion Item! This is an EXCLUSIVE card that will only be available on our site! This beautiful communion card adds an extra touch of elegance to that special event. It portrays a young girls gloved hands holding a rosary. Can be used for Twins and Triplets. Comes with white envelope that is SILVER LINED. This is a great added touch!

Of course, I spent agood deal of my time speculating on the symbolism of various details. I asked a few questions to my friend about why things were done this way or that, and got a nice explanation of the tradition. My mind couldn't get away from the surroundings, as the decorations of the church were imposing and starkly contrasting the later decorations of the reception. The church was adorned everywhere in gold, no childish bits visible.

It dawned on me that the communion was as much a time of celebrating a religious "first" as it was to celebrate the quickly growing child participants. Instead of celebrating the youth with baby colors and sweet words, the church was filled with the gravity of the situation and was prompting the children to mature.

With this thought in mind, I would like to share a few gold-themed communion invitations that reflect this same level of maturity without going overboard. To me, these designs are neutral--great for girls, boys, and twins--and highly customizable. Changing the font alone would easily make the invitation more or less youthful and more or less formal. They are the perfect choice for that something a little bit different from everything else, without sacrificing on the theme or quality.

Golden Cross Invitation - This cards background is white and features an ornate scroll design cross on the top. The border is a solid gold line, with a thinner gold line. The corners have an ornate star pattern with swirls. First Communion - Some Simple Advice

Communion season is on its way, and as always you’ll want to get a jump on ordering product.  In some diocese, First Communion has become so large that they have had to split it into two separate seasons: one in fall and one in spring.  However, even with this change to try to ease some of the burden, spring-time Communion is still far more popular.  As a result, these invitations sell out very quickly, and though your child may not have their First Communion until April or May, you might be surprised how limited your choices could be by waiting a few extra weeks.  As with any event, planning is the most important key to success.

We have a large selection of Baptism/Communion products for both girls and boys, and love to contribute to making your special event flawless.  Remember, when organizing the wording of your invitation you want to include the event, the person of honor, the date, time, and location, and of course any RSVP information.  If hosting a reception as well, be sure to include both event times and locations.

We have some gorgeous exclusive designs that will help you make this occasion memorable for you and your child.
